Tired Mother: How to Enhance Creativity to Children

Posted in Labels: , , ,

How to enhance creativity to children?

"Just before I became a parent I had a dream of helping my children become creative contributors to society;  however, the reality of daily living leaves me exhausted and makes me a tired parent.  After the whole day’s tasks, I feel I am hardly in the right mood to motivate the creativity of my son."

Being a parent and the parenting process itself are very challenging.  Substantial effort is spent by most parents in order to get through the day fruitfully successful.  A parenting life demands great efforts and enlarged responsibilities for yourself, your children and the entire family.   Unfortunately, many parents think that careers, major projects, outings, or money are required to encourage their children’s creativity.  Sometimes these things do help, but not the real grounds to enhance creativity to children.

The important day-to-day routine of family members will supply large opportunities for promoting their creativity.  Say for instance, every one of you might plan eating dinner or brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand.  It isn’t helpful to do it for your convenience, but the opportunity to think of ways to use your other hand in order to practice doing something better leaves many challenges to all. Bathing by candlelight and having a picnic meal on your floor in the living room are but some situations of changes in tediously boring routines.  You may encourage your child to think of other applicable ideas.  Mentally, it’s another way of showing how creative they are by asking them what they can suggest.  You will be amazed how children of this present generation can start creating things in their minds that will show in their actions later.

You will wonder how over the way such independent changes will persuade conversation and flicker eagerness.  They might as well contribute to your vision of fostering your son’s creativity.  As a concerned parent help your children develop their minds and bring out their best ability.   Teach them creativity by showing ways on how to be creative to yourself first.  Being a tired parent, it is empowering to see your son showing his excellent skills.

Child’s Brain Development – Answering the Most FAQ

Posted in Labels: , , , , ,

Miraculously, a child's brain development is a growing phenomenon.  With this, many parents and guardians have lurking questions about their child’s brain development.  So here I have gathered some of those questions and have given you the best possible answers.  These can give each parent the guidelines in quest for knowledge.  These questions and answers are initial ways to start improving your child’s brain development:

Question:  As a child develops much of his “brain wiring,” how far can the brain progress based on genes and environment influence?

Answer:  The development of a child’s brain cell is fast and constant.  Studies show that approximately 30% to 60% of a child’s brain development (brain wiring) is based on heredity.  The remaining 40% to 70% develops via connections with environment, activities, and people.  As a result, parents’ ways of taking care children have influential effects on the child’s brain development and behaviour.

Question: How effective are human interactions to the brain development of a child?

Answer:
Literally speaking, the brain of a child keeps growing with new connections on a continuous basis.  New kinds of stimulation and physical activities will cause brain growth to the child.  Many other activities like body exercise, music listening, throwing of stuff are great brain stimulants to help boost neural connections.  They can help develop better connections in order to become more active.  As a child is continuously exposed with challenges, learning, and experiences, these are the nutrient factors enhancing development for the child’s brain.  Parents can maximize the ability of the child to develop their brains by engaging on these things.

Question:  What are the effects of food and nutrition on the mind of the child?

Answer:  The basic food nutrition still plays major roles in the child's brain function and development.  These include unsaturated fats, proteins, fruits and vegetables, sugar, and carbohydrates.  Green and leafy vegetables, nuts, dairy products, fish are proven to be particular foods that fuel and encourage brain development for the child.  Vitamins and minerals are similarly healthy foods.  However, be cautious if a child has allergies on certain food.  Clean water, especially drinking lots of water every day, will maintain alertness and high energy levels on children—all the time.

Question: If you want to improve your child’s brain development, how would you generate a rich learning environment?

Answer: Studies show that a child’s brain development can be fully enhanced with the help of the environment that surrounds the child. Two elements are involved here:

1.   First is exposure.  If the child is given rich information and lots of experiences, as well as challenges that promote problem solving activities, then his brain can develop faster.  Too little or too much challenges will result to some development problems.  Parents ought to help their children learn in a variety of ways.  Always give your child new situations to learn something new.  Provide added levels or techniques to grasp knowledge and brain function.

2.   Second is good feedback.  Children need to be recognized about the good they’re doing.  Parent’s compliments on this are importantly useful.  Good comments must be specific and must be given while the activity is being done or right after it.  Exploring is so significant.  While children learn from teachers and parents, they also must learn through their own efforts and creativity.  Make your feedbacks constructive in order to create better development and improvement on the child.

Question:  If there is not enough child brain development during childhood years, is there something that can help him overcome it?

Answer:  While formative years are the most important stages for a child’s brain development, studies show that the brain can still overcome from the many undesirable effects.  This is true with the first 12 or 14 years.  Each child possesses substantial chances to recover from negative experiences and then begin developing things not nurtured during his early years.

A good example for this development is to learn a new language.  An average child is able to learn 5 different languages at the same time.  However, he can still learn new languages easily until he is 10 years old or more.  Sometimes, what children need is stimulation from parents in order to study languages or other areas that involve brain development.

Question:  What common activities can promote higher levels of a child’s brain development?

Answer:  Children are naturally receptive about anything that you provide them.  They are curiously interested and have strong instincts on endless things. They can benefit a lot from many different activities.  There are, however, three activities that promote their overall brain development: arts, music and physical activities.

Firstly, arts engage many brain areas to help children understand what cognition, memory and emotions are.  Provide your child lots of opportunities to be creative using many kinds of art: painting, drawing, crafting, etc.

Secondly, music involves every feature of the brain to fuel functioning of the brain.  Your child needs more exposures to a variety of songs, music, rhythm, repetitions, and rhymes.

Thirdly, movements of the body like engaging in physical activities help in fully enhancing a child’s brain development.  They stimulate related activities to learning and brain growth.  Help your child play and give them opportunities to help in household chores.

So that’s it for a child’s brain development.  You got the important things to consider in helping  your child grow fully. More importantly, parents are to nurture their kids with loving interactions, protected environment and hands-on activities that encourage learning and exploring.  As children’s first teachers, parents must open the doors and windows that allow their kids for growth and development every day.

How to Improve Long Memory for Children

Posted in Labels: , , ,

There are children whose ability to memorize comes naturally. While for others, memorization is a long, difficult procedure.  How to improve long memory for children is just like any other talent. It is a skill that can be developed consistently.  To make it easier, use tricks and tips for helping children and students memorize information.

Learning styles to improve long memory

Until you find the most effective one for your child, continue to experiment which learning style belongs to him. Remember, every child has his own way to improve his learning--one that works best for him.  Discover the primary learning style of your child.  The best way to boost and improve long memory for children is to use one or a combination of the following strategies:

           1.   Visual learners.  They do better and improve well in memorizing information if they have pictures in which they can link the information with.

           2.   Some students may easily acquire long memory through verbal-auditory methods.  They may come from  speaking, reciting, singing, or listening repeatedly to information.

           3.   To help improve long memory for children, there are some students who learn fast through writing down details and information.

           4.   As with the the other children, there are kinesthetic learners.  This means they learn through the use of their body movements and cooperation.  For most of them, movements of hands will activate mental memories.

For best results, encourage your child to try all these learning styles and then identify which one is the most applicable.  Memorization differs in level and speed depending on the child's receptive ability.  So it takes time to discover the right style, but the benefits of fast learning and memorizing are achievable.

4 Tips to Boosting Long Memory

The following tips will help improve long memory for children.  Kids and adults alike can use these techniques for the rest of their lives:

1.     More repetitions and practice.

The act of repeating is the mother of learning.  If your goal is to help improve long memory for children, have them practice and repeat more often.  Repetition is what in the long run makes us commit things to improve long memory. For the adults, they need to hear information at least three times in order not to forget it.  An average child is required to hear it more often. Consequently, it’s significant to include day-to-day drills on key information so that younger kids can hear it through repetitions and practice.

2.     Application of mnemonic devices.

Most of the adults remember things with the use of acronyms, and this is also useful for children.  To enumerate the 9 planets using “My Very Earnest Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas” for “Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto” is a lot easier. Rhyme is another type of mnemonic device.  Example, "Thirty Days Hath September." These are mental aids in helping kids memorize information.  They are time-tested, effective tools to improve long memory for children.

3.      Audio Music helps.

For learners, I wrote singing as a useful tool to improve kid's ability to memorize.  Similarly, it works well for most high school and college students.  There are songs that possess the ability to assist students to learn subtraction with borrowing.   Use of songs helps to name each type of geographical landforms. Music with pairing words will help kids remember, improve and retrieve information almost immediately.  Some linguistics professors use songs to help their students memorize the key word vocabulary.  The use of music really works to improve long memory for children.

4.     Teach memorization as a skill.

If your aim is to fully improve long memory for your children, don't only use these tools when studying.  Let them go beyond memorizing.  Let your kids know the importance of memorization and why. When they have memorized something, compliment them to help them remember more.  This is empowering for the kids; it will teach them to use such skill later in life.  It pays to enhance your memory and the children’s. Try the above tips and see how they can improve long memory for your children!

Parents cannot Force Children to Study: Train them to Improve Good Study Habits

Posted in Labels: , , , , ,

Parents can’t and should not push their children to study.  Unfortunately, scolding, nagging and threatening won’t improve good study habits.  What kids should understand is that they are the ones responsible for their own studies and homework.

Sad to say, kids are not born with the great study habits  required for them to succeed in school. This is one thing they need to learn gradually.  Normally, children start studying without the developed skills to do well.

How Education Pressures Children and Parents?

As observed, this modern generation offers a complex approach for educational system.  More books are read, daily homework given, monthly exams, projects, additional curricular activities and others that burden the kids.  We’ve been seeing them dragging books and bags heavier than they could carry.  Imagine a young 7-year-old kid is bombarded with much study pressures and tasks he does not deserve.  This was not the case many generations ago.

On the part of the parents, teaching a grade school child causes much anxiety, fighting, and long hours of scolding.  And the result?  Physical and emotional exhaustion both to parents and children. Worse, parents did not help kids to improve good study habits.

In order to cope with what modern education gives, it is very important to develop and improve good study habits. Here are some helpful keys:

1.   Start the habit early. Parents can start displaying good examples for their kids long before they go to school.  Read to your children every day.  Skills in reading are so significant if you want them to succeed in school.  Frequent reading helps kids to build up interest for reading a variety of subjects.

2.   Have a fixed schedule. Parents need to make a decision what time of the day homework should be done, then stick to it.  While kids are in the lower grades, an hour each day is possibly enough to start and improve their good study habits.  Added time would be necessary as homework increases.   Kids need to understand they are capable of making decisions for their studies.  If there’s no homework on a given day, use this fixed time to read or work on long term projects.  Remember, your goal is to help children improve good study habits.  So don’t miss studying although there’s no homework.

3.   Have a conducive study area.  Parents should provide a comfortable study area—same place for each day. There should be no distractions in children's focus.  Keep away from TV, computers, phones, gadgets, toys—anything that will capture their attention.  These are not helpful to improve their good study habits.

4.   Be there to help.  You must have time to immediately answer questions.  You should give information without really doing the homework for them. Parents should train their children study skills they need.

5.   Provide strength.  Parents, why can’t you praise your children for exerting efforts for their homework?  You’re so quick to reprimand if they do wrong and yet too lazy to praise them if they do good.  Bear in mind, though, that homework is not all the time fun, so don’t expect perfection.  In time, they will improve their good study habits.

6.   Provide children the responsibility for their own homework.  Let kids suffer the consequences if they  have failed to do their assignment.  Your role as parents is to give support.  What is important is that they understand the value of education to become more responsible.

7.   If the method doesn’t work, try another approach.  If the plan does not help, simply change it.  Two shorter study periods each day may be easier than a longer one.  Early evening study may help better than an immediately after-school study.  Parents and kids should plan with the right schedule until they come about with one that works best.

Always keep in mind that children must learn to be responsible for their own education.  Parents can create a big difference by giving them learning tools for education. How to stimulate a child's mind should be the priority of every parent.  There's no stressful and difficult life for children who have been trained to improve good study habits.

Technology and Internet: DOs and DONTs for Children and Parents

Posted in Labels: , , , ,

Our society is a world of progressive technology and internet based activities.  Like adults, children also become part of it.  As parents, we prepare our young kids to enter into a workforce of computers in their daily living.  There are many benefits they can get for this but certainly there are some which are not good.  Find out the DOs and DONTs when using today's technology and internet:

Top 5 DOs

1.   Make it a quality time.  Parents should be around with the child’s experience.  They should interact with them while exploring with the advanced technology and internet activities.  If you join a child, you share his joys of new understanding and accomplishments.

2.   Select good software.  Choosing good software gives importance to your child’s age, abilities, interest, likes and dislikes.  This is very necessary for his or her skills development.  There are lots of educational sites to guide your child to optimize learning with the help of technology and internet.

3.   Get computer game activities.  Games should be linked to real-life circumstances and activities.  Motivate children to connect their games to life’s experiences. Games will enrich children with vocabulary in many different fields. They will learn how to analyze logically and become alert in their visual and mental abilities.

4.   Identify various activities showing kid’s interests.  While using technology and internet, help your child build up his talents and skills that will best benefit his over all growth.  You can expose him to drawings, images, paintings, videos, fashion.  Or you can offer options for cooking, working, doing sports—the list actually is never ending.

5.   Give opportunity to your child to try challenges. There are many activities of discoveries in today’s technology and internet.  Instill a desire to progress continuously in technical matters related to his living.  Maintain an atmosphere of fun and not concentrating on hard studies alone.  Children should be happy enough to handle difficult things but at the same time learn to overcome challenges.

Top 4 DON'Ts

1.   Computers must not take place the traditional childhood activities.   Modern technology and internet activities involve sitting, watching, texting, and net surfing.  Because of these, significant experiences related to their psychological, physical, and social development are ignored.  They are still kids and they need all good experiences in their growing years.

2.   Daily using computers should not go beyond 1 hour.  Parents should limit the use of computer to 1 hour and allocate suitable time table.  Young children need more various experiences such as playing, touching, embracing, exercising and others.  All of which may not be experienced in the latest technology and internet services.

3.   Below 1-year-old children must not use computers. Their sense of sight is still sensitive and refined.  Toddlers are just starting to develop their motor capabilities.  They need to wait until they reach the right age of one year old.  Only then can they start accepting loads of information about the things around them.

4.   Don’t scold or punish children.  If they fight because of a computer, parent should avoid being harsh.  The best thing to do is give each of them allotted time.  If they know how to wait for their time, neither will they misbehave nor fight.  They’ll learn the value of patience and sharing.  However, if they’re using the computer, you can help by not disturbing them.  Like adults, they need also concentration while on-line.

Instant access and unlimited information are the benefits of using today’s high technology and internet activities.  Children of this generation are born to explore and enjoy them.  With the proper guidance and continuous assistance, parents can provide many technical experiences to their growing children.

They are good stimulants for kids who find learning as a tedious activity.  With today's technology, Transformers serve as toys and teaching devices as well. How to Help Children Develop their Minds

Posted in Labels: ,

Parents for sure have the tremendous influence when it comes to developing the minds of their children.  Parental influence should start at birth, and then the progress is never-ending.

Infants would benefit a lot from fathers and mothers who always talk to them and attempt to make themselves being understood.  A child’s verbal skills are increased more during this exchanging process.  The mental development receives help from the stimulation of the environment by utilizing support and love coming from the parents.   It is so significant that children would believe in their ideas.  Simple ideas that convey effective communication and meaning to people they get in touch with.

There are instances that parents can harm the child’s innate search for knowledge.  One way is by filling the home with stressful quiz shows.  If little children believe continuously that they should provide right answers, then to please the adults will cloud the excitement of learning.  It is not because they enjoy discovering new things that satisfy them, but rather the kind of response the adults show becomes the basis.

Parents must give motivation for the process of figuring out and searching for more than one answer to a similar problem.  Such exploration shouldn’t be stressful in order to help children understand that learning is fun.  One situation will not only get one acceptable answer.  For sure there are other appropriate answers that may help in a certain situation.

While children need parents who are involved in their activities actively for their mental enhancement, they should also need to explore on things by themselves.  This is for self-discovery.  Unknown to us, little children can spend many hours making their own intellectual experiences.  This is a great tool to encourage their mental development ability.

As a family, it is the utmost concern of all parents to give the best mental development for their children.  Keep in mind, though, that it happens not only through the efforts of parents.  It also occurs when we allow them to grow through their own endeavor and explorations.  That’s why loving parents should always be there to guide and support.
