Child’s Brain Development – Answering the Most FAQ

Posted in Labels: , , , , ,

Miraculously, a child's brain development is a growing phenomenon.  With this, many parents and guardians have lurking questions about their child’s brain development.  So here I have gathered some of those questions and have given you the best possible answers.  These can give each parent the guidelines in quest for knowledge.  These questions and answers are initial ways to start improving your child’s brain development:

Question:  As a child develops much of his “brain wiring,” how far can the brain progress based on genes and environment influence?

Answer:  The development of a child’s brain cell is fast and constant.  Studies show that approximately 30% to 60% of a child’s brain development (brain wiring) is based on heredity.  The remaining 40% to 70% develops via connections with environment, activities, and people.  As a result, parents’ ways of taking care children have influential effects on the child’s brain development and behaviour.

Question: How effective are human interactions to the brain development of a child?

Answer:
Literally speaking, the brain of a child keeps growing with new connections on a continuous basis.  New kinds of stimulation and physical activities will cause brain growth to the child.  Many other activities like body exercise, music listening, throwing of stuff are great brain stimulants to help boost neural connections.  They can help develop better connections in order to become more active.  As a child is continuously exposed with challenges, learning, and experiences, these are the nutrient factors enhancing development for the child’s brain.  Parents can maximize the ability of the child to develop their brains by engaging on these things.

Question:  What are the effects of food and nutrition on the mind of the child?

Answer:  The basic food nutrition still plays major roles in the child's brain function and development.  These include unsaturated fats, proteins, fruits and vegetables, sugar, and carbohydrates.  Green and leafy vegetables, nuts, dairy products, fish are proven to be particular foods that fuel and encourage brain development for the child.  Vitamins and minerals are similarly healthy foods.  However, be cautious if a child has allergies on certain food.  Clean water, especially drinking lots of water every day, will maintain alertness and high energy levels on children—all the time.

Question: If you want to improve your child’s brain development, how would you generate a rich learning environment?

Answer: Studies show that a child’s brain development can be fully enhanced with the help of the environment that surrounds the child. Two elements are involved here:

1.   First is exposure.  If the child is given rich information and lots of experiences, as well as challenges that promote problem solving activities, then his brain can develop faster.  Too little or too much challenges will result to some development problems.  Parents ought to help their children learn in a variety of ways.  Always give your child new situations to learn something new.  Provide added levels or techniques to grasp knowledge and brain function.

2.   Second is good feedback.  Children need to be recognized about the good they’re doing.  Parent’s compliments on this are importantly useful.  Good comments must be specific and must be given while the activity is being done or right after it.  Exploring is so significant.  While children learn from teachers and parents, they also must learn through their own efforts and creativity.  Make your feedbacks constructive in order to create better development and improvement on the child.

Question:  If there is not enough child brain development during childhood years, is there something that can help him overcome it?

Answer:  While formative years are the most important stages for a child’s brain development, studies show that the brain can still overcome from the many undesirable effects.  This is true with the first 12 or 14 years.  Each child possesses substantial chances to recover from negative experiences and then begin developing things not nurtured during his early years.

A good example for this development is to learn a new language.  An average child is able to learn 5 different languages at the same time.  However, he can still learn new languages easily until he is 10 years old or more.  Sometimes, what children need is stimulation from parents in order to study languages or other areas that involve brain development.

Question:  What common activities can promote higher levels of a child’s brain development?

Answer:  Children are naturally receptive about anything that you provide them.  They are curiously interested and have strong instincts on endless things. They can benefit a lot from many different activities.  There are, however, three activities that promote their overall brain development: arts, music and physical activities.

Firstly, arts engage many brain areas to help children understand what cognition, memory and emotions are.  Provide your child lots of opportunities to be creative using many kinds of art: painting, drawing, crafting, etc.

Secondly, music involves every feature of the brain to fuel functioning of the brain.  Your child needs more exposures to a variety of songs, music, rhythm, repetitions, and rhymes.

Thirdly, movements of the body like engaging in physical activities help in fully enhancing a child’s brain development.  They stimulate related activities to learning and brain growth.  Help your child play and give them opportunities to help in household chores.

So that’s it for a child’s brain development.  You got the important things to consider in helping  your child grow fully. More importantly, parents are to nurture their kids with loving interactions, protected environment and hands-on activities that encourage learning and exploring.  As children’s first teachers, parents must open the doors and windows that allow their kids for growth and development every day.

10 Basic Principles of Teaching Children the Lessons of Life

Posted in Labels: , , , ,

What is your major responsibility as parents for your children? How will you give them education and the important lessons of life? How will you be able to fulfill it? The basic lessons your children should discover must come from you, the parents.  But how prepared are you to teach your children these lessons?

Here are the guidelines that give tips to parents:

1.     Every child is created with a clear purpose.  Your child is born neither by chance nor probability. All parts of his body are complexly designed making the child unique from other children.  As loving parents, it is your obligation to impart them the purpose and core of their existence.

2.     Every child should learn the many different lessons of life.  Your child is bestowed with the willingness, ability to learn as well as the gift to understand.  From birth to death, your child is already signed up to join formal and informal education.    All days in school and home are opportunities to get exposed to discovering new things.  Both have relevant and irrelevant experiences to learn.  In discerning good from evil, help them apply the importance of filtering.  This is something children should not ignore.

3.     Every child will learn lessons from their mistakes.  Experience teaches lessons not taught in school.  It is always the best teacher ever.  Parents have the responsibility to teach their children to grow through trials, errors and experimentations.

4.     A failure in life is as important as gaining success.  A genuine success comes from a series of failures and lessons of life.  Help children to accept that it’s okay to fail, but no one should stay in that condition forever.  Encourage them to stand up again, be resilient and move on to next stage of their life.

5.     Every child must learn through repetitive procedure.  Every lesson a child learns is repeated until it is fully learned.  The process comes to your children in various forms.  Teach your children that lessons of life are wisdom gained.  Putting into practice what is learned makes the big difference.

6.     Lessons of life are life-long courses to learn.  Make it clear to your children that as long as they live, they will keep discovering new things.  Finishing a course doesn’t stop them from learning.  Being away from school won’t mean they have graduated.  Every stage, part, area of their life has lessons to learn.  And growing only stops when the heart ceases from beating.

7.     Encourage them to live one day at a time.  Help them live each day as if it were last.  No child can be the same in various days and time.  No one is in different locations simultaneously.  What they were a couple of years ago won’t be the same today or tomorrow.  Help them and motivate them to do their best today for tomorrow can’t promise any assurance.

8.     Train them to equip plans for their lives.  Teach your children that all the resources they need are available to fulfil their life plans.  Children are given tools, talents, and skills needed to understand the lessons of life.  Guide them to use these tools to their advantage and also to their fellow men.  Use and explore them but not wastefully.

9.     Help them understand the three perennial questions about life: Where do children come from, why are children here, and where should they be going?   The answers to these questions are considered the toughest knowledge to be learned.  Such is the ultimate message and lessons of life that each child should strive for.  Parents play a major role in helping their children quest for the right answers.

10.    Train your children to share what they have learned.  Kids will forget most of the experiences they gained.  Because of this, they’ve got no choice but to share the lessons of life to others.  Help them unlearn selfishness by giving out what they have.  Light your child’s candle and keep it burning.  When they learn to share and give, none of their good deeds will be forgotten.

Teaching children education and the lessons of life are the quests for true and meaningful living.  This living should become a reality.  Children are born to learn and should pass all the life’s exams, but of course the rewards are always there waiting for them!

Parenting : How to Train & Discipline Children in This Modern World

Posted in Labels: , , , , , , ,

Children training and discipline is a parenting theme that has been angrily discussed in current years.   A great deal of this reason came from the term 'discipline.’ This displays a portrait of difficult and cruel punishment in the minds of most parents.  Undeniably, the dispute has made many parents of today to choose and accept a parenting approach that is “extremely permissive.”

We all need training and discipline in our lives.  However, parents have to know what is good and bad behavior, and what things to do and not to do.  We also recognize that there are lots of things in life to do, even if we don't want to.

What to Do in Training and Discipline

1.   Truth is none of us is born with self discipline and training.  This is something our kids have to learn early and regularly.  As for the parents, appropriate training and discipline must be something they should know first in order to teach their children.

2.   One lesson parents have to find out is that training and disciplining kids is done individually. Remember also that one parenting style that works for a child does not essentially become suitable with another child.

3.   Parenting styles should help to realize that training and discipline requires a link to a child's degree of understanding. In most part, this is a role of age.  But remember each child develops at different rates.   So it’s crucial that kids' needs are to be taken into consideration.

4.   Any response to bad behavior has to be fitting to the age of children.  Response given in training and discipline should be effective for the individual child. Understand why there is a misbehavior--mostly, kids are in need of missing attention that's why they do it.

5.   Children training and discipline is not all the time acceptable if it only highlights punishments.  For kids this isn’t going to work.  Teaching them a lesson will always go a long way; imposing punishment will scare them.  However the training and discipline lesson parents are teaching them is not well understood.

6.   If a parent is angry while training and disciplining the child, the kid comprehends not the lesson but the anger.  It's the anger which is very exhausting but not helpful that instilled in the mind of a child.

Applying Logical Consequences

Alternatively, the use of “logical consequences”--proven to be an effective form of training and discipline--won’t require lots of emotional energy on parents. This makes sense to children, too.  Our kids don't need punishment but unconditional love. What punishment, in any form, cannot do to the kids, love will always do.  Try to link discipline and training to a logical or natural flow.  Thus, it enables parents to choose the most suitable type of children training and discipline.

Learn this, parents: Our kids are given to us for protection and love.  Along this is the parenting responsibility to raise them the right way.  It 's our role to figure out the best parenting approach to apply.  It starts with loving them unconditionally. The training and discipline you give should always involve in loving and not hurting. No matter what, they deserve to be loved and respected like adults. This is what parents are called for.

Parenting Styles: 3 Common Mistakes Parents Do to Discipline Children

Posted in Labels: , , , , ,

To discipline your child to behave can be a very long process which requires a lot of time, effort, patience, and strategies which simply can’t be done overnight. When done properly, it can be very rewarding and make life's relationship much easier for you, your child and your family.

3 common mistakes of parents

(1) Parents using one parenting style and applying it to children with a specific diagnosis like ADHD.  Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a behavioural disorder that is seen in early childhood. You may know it by the name attention deficit disorder ADD.  It makes it hard for people to slow down their impulsive responses that can involve all from movement to words to special treatment.

Children with ADHD or other forms of analysis will require you to adapt your parenting styles to benefit the child effectively. Punishing a child with ADHD, to discipline him, will not work if this is what you do in your parenting styles.

(2) Parents looking for the best forms of punishments to deter unwanted behaviours usually want a list of consequences they can use in such a situation. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. It usually tends to be case specific like when your child doesn’t wake up and get ready for school in the morning, you might want to make the child go to bed earlier. Although it solves part of the problem it doesn’t resolve it entirely. What you need are problem solving skills in your parenting styles, rather than consequences to have the right desired effect.

(3) While applying their parenting styles, they assume that punishing their children will rectify their child’s behavior.  You must have the right discipline strategies in place if you are going to teach your child how to behave with proven methods that work.

Here are some child discipline tips to stop your child from misbehaving.

1.   Lead by example and be a good role model for your children so they can follow the rules. They are easily influenced at this stage and mimic what is around them.

2.   Pay close attention to your child’s behaviour and take swift action if your child disobeys. It is recommended you give a verbal warning very quickly and implement a discipline plan to counteract this behaviour.

3.   Be firm with them and explain why you are doing this.

4.   You must remember children will always be pushing the boundaries no matter what stage of development they are at and you must follow through at all times.

5.   When your child upsets you, do not take it personally. If for example, they swear at you, take time out by calming down and leave the room.

6.   Next, devise a discipline strategy to rectify the problem.

To effectively solve problem behaviours, you need to think about what you are going to do with your parenting styles rather than being controlled by feelings. For instance, if kids don’t want to do their homework, you can actually do something about it by turning it into a game making it more fun for them.  If your child is studying history on Thanks Giving, why not turn it into a role play by you and them acting out certain events in Thanks Giving.

Lecturing about how they should respect you is not constructive as it won’t resolve or change their behaviour.

Set in place a structure and achievable goals that your kids can work on rather than talking at your children about how they should respect you. What you really need are discipline measures that involve setting limits as well as problem solving skills. You need to ask yourself what is the lesson you would like your child to learn. The lesson may not be a consequence.

Technology and Internet: DOs and DONTs for Children and Parents

Posted in Labels: , , , ,

Our society is a world of progressive technology and internet based activities.  Like adults, children also become part of it.  As parents, we prepare our young kids to enter into a workforce of computers in their daily living.  There are many benefits they can get for this but certainly there are some which are not good.  Find out the DOs and DONTs when using today's technology and internet:

Top 5 DOs

1.   Make it a quality time.  Parents should be around with the child’s experience.  They should interact with them while exploring with the advanced technology and internet activities.  If you join a child, you share his joys of new understanding and accomplishments.

2.   Select good software.  Choosing good software gives importance to your child’s age, abilities, interest, likes and dislikes.  This is very necessary for his or her skills development.  There are lots of educational sites to guide your child to optimize learning with the help of technology and internet.

3.   Get computer game activities.  Games should be linked to real-life circumstances and activities.  Motivate children to connect their games to life’s experiences. Games will enrich children with vocabulary in many different fields. They will learn how to analyze logically and become alert in their visual and mental abilities.

4.   Identify various activities showing kid’s interests.  While using technology and internet, help your child build up his talents and skills that will best benefit his over all growth.  You can expose him to drawings, images, paintings, videos, fashion.  Or you can offer options for cooking, working, doing sports—the list actually is never ending.

5.   Give opportunity to your child to try challenges. There are many activities of discoveries in today’s technology and internet.  Instill a desire to progress continuously in technical matters related to his living.  Maintain an atmosphere of fun and not concentrating on hard studies alone.  Children should be happy enough to handle difficult things but at the same time learn to overcome challenges.

Top 4 DON'Ts

1.   Computers must not take place the traditional childhood activities.   Modern technology and internet activities involve sitting, watching, texting, and net surfing.  Because of these, significant experiences related to their psychological, physical, and social development are ignored.  They are still kids and they need all good experiences in their growing years.

2.   Daily using computers should not go beyond 1 hour.  Parents should limit the use of computer to 1 hour and allocate suitable time table.  Young children need more various experiences such as playing, touching, embracing, exercising and others.  All of which may not be experienced in the latest technology and internet services.

3.   Below 1-year-old children must not use computers. Their sense of sight is still sensitive and refined.  Toddlers are just starting to develop their motor capabilities.  They need to wait until they reach the right age of one year old.  Only then can they start accepting loads of information about the things around them.

4.   Don’t scold or punish children.  If they fight because of a computer, parent should avoid being harsh.  The best thing to do is give each of them allotted time.  If they know how to wait for their time, neither will they misbehave nor fight.  They’ll learn the value of patience and sharing.  However, if they’re using the computer, you can help by not disturbing them.  Like adults, they need also concentration while on-line.

Instant access and unlimited information are the benefits of using today’s high technology and internet activities.  Children of this generation are born to explore and enjoy them.  With the proper guidance and continuous assistance, parents can provide many technical experiences to their growing children.

IQ Test : Skills and Talents Intelligence Quotient Can't Measure

Posted in Labels: , ,

Unhappily, many parents and teachers assess a child’s intelligence quotient (IQ) on the foundation of test scores.  These tests only present information in an incomplete way of measuring a child’s brain.  More important information about the child’s brain cannot be calculated by means of one test only.  Observing the child’s day-to-day actions and activities over a longer period of time will help more in providing justified assessment of the young child’s mental ability.

It is vital to bear in mind that an IQ test can’t measure particular talents: artistic, physical skills, musical, or human relations skills like socialization, emotional maturity, flexibility, reliability, leadership ability, and sense of humor.  IQ test can’t even gauge encouragement, task commitment, attention duration, specialized skills, interests, and curiosity of job competency.   This incomplete list may include characteristics and talents that can dramatically affect a student’s success in school and in life.

Mind tests will compare children’s potentials for academic achievement at particular age levels.  Their results point out individual differences in intellectual capabilities.  There appears to be a parallel between high intelligence quotient (IQ) test scores and top grades in most schools.  In short, scores can be used to foretell the school’s success.

Brain test results have been used productively in recognizing insufficiency.  From time to time, one area of academic weakness can start to wane the rest of the school experience.  Precisely assessed weaknesses can frequently be overcome during tutorial help that strengthens a child’s self-confidence and skills.

There are some problems that need to be taken care of to keep IO tests in right perspective:
  • First.  A precise IQ score must be derived from a number of tests, not just only one.  How a child performs in one test is affected by his or her feelings, both physically and emotionally, when taking it.  The approach of an individual administering the intelligence test may cause children to feel comfortable or apprehensive.

  • Second.  Tests may not all the time culturally fair. They make assumptions about the background of the children taking the test—that they are from the middle class homes, for instance—and thus make it more complex for children not to fit that intelligence style in scoring well.

  • Third.  Intelligence quotient test scores are not static; they can vary by 12 or 22 points within a year.  The anticipations of parents and teachers can influence this variation.

What every child needs is loving assistance in assessing his or her strengths and weaknesses.  No young boy or girl should suffer from feelings of insufficiency for scoring low in intelligence quotient (IQ).  There are other skills and talents that will display the child’s strong points and cleverness.  This is done by conducting broader ways of assessing the child and not merely relying on IQ test results.

How to Help Children Develop their Minds

Posted in Labels: ,

Parents for sure have the tremendous influence when it comes to developing the minds of their children.  Parental influence should start at birth, and then the progress is never-ending.

Infants would benefit a lot from fathers and mothers who always talk to them and attempt to make themselves being understood.  A child’s verbal skills are increased more during this exchanging process.  The mental development receives help from the stimulation of the environment by utilizing support and love coming from the parents.   It is so significant that children would believe in their ideas.  Simple ideas that convey effective communication and meaning to people they get in touch with.

There are instances that parents can harm the child’s innate search for knowledge.  One way is by filling the home with stressful quiz shows.  If little children believe continuously that they should provide right answers, then to please the adults will cloud the excitement of learning.  It is not because they enjoy discovering new things that satisfy them, but rather the kind of response the adults show becomes the basis.

Parents must give motivation for the process of figuring out and searching for more than one answer to a similar problem.  Such exploration shouldn’t be stressful in order to help children understand that learning is fun.  One situation will not only get one acceptable answer.  For sure there are other appropriate answers that may help in a certain situation.

While children need parents who are involved in their activities actively for their mental enhancement, they should also need to explore on things by themselves.  This is for self-discovery.  Unknown to us, little children can spend many hours making their own intellectual experiences.  This is a great tool to encourage their mental development ability.

As a family, it is the utmost concern of all parents to give the best mental development for their children.  Keep in mind, though, that it happens not only through the efforts of parents.  It also occurs when we allow them to grow through their own endeavor and explorations.  That’s why loving parents should always be there to guide and support.

      6 Tips to Promoting Child’s Self-Dependence

      Posted in Labels:

Child's self-dependence is to be learned at a very young age.  Starting from the stage of infancy, little children understand that they can have the impact on the big world that surrounds them.  Generally, when a baby cries out loud, a parent immediately responds.  When he stretches his one arm then he is supported.  His one contagious smile gives birth to a similar smile.  There are lots of small things that train an infant about life and living.  Autonomy will assist a child to turn out to be a unique human being, entirely different and separated from the others.

Concerned parents give the importance on how to teach them attain autonomy.  Being a child, autonomy or self-dependence is something that provides the basic needs in order to grow up independently.  This means having the capacity to do something and responds accordingly to the world—a general sensitivity of self-reliance.

This process will recommend many ways to motivate children in their every day routine: taking a bath, eating, playing, sleeping, and getting dressed to name a few.  For us, it may look simple when they do these things; however, every achievement will assist them in controlling the more difficult tests they will confront in life soon.

You may find these tips practically helpful to stimulate child's self-dependence:

      1.   Children do learn to understand what being competent is if parents don’t miss to supply the necessary opportunities to grow autonomously.

      2.   Parents should feel inwardly if their child is prepared enough for a new responsibility.

      3.   Keeping the child motivated in attempting to do something long before he or she is prepared is not good.  It only robs the child of the enjoyment of overcoming a difficulty or challenge.

      4.   Being independent makes children addictive.  The greater the responsibility they can cope with, the more they desire to assume.

      5.   The benefit of giving children the responsibility is the ability to view their lives in a succession of great challenges.

      6.   In case you see them is improving well, refrain from helping or doing the task for them.  Young children cannot find any mastery without receiving enough time to progress on what they are working on.

Autonomy is more than just increasing one’s childhood experiences.  This is a character trait that needs development during the child’s formative years.  It is also the way to achieve self-confidence to do specific tasks and not to rob the time of others for help.  Through the child's self-dependence, he learns to reasonably detach from his parents and to help avoid his reliance to others.

      Effective Parenting Roles to Children

      Posted in Labels: , , ,

An effective way of parenting exists. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a married parent, a single parent, or a step parent.   You are part of a family.  Parents are all entrusted with the significant undertaking of bringing up children.  During the early years of their lives, children are entirely dependent on their parents.   The family must give security, motivation, financial provision, and schooling.  The parents help children become accustomed to society.  An objective of the parenting procedure is to move the children from total dependence to victorious autonomy.  Preferably, each father and mother takes pleasure in being a part of this long process.

If the goals are so clear and parents have the greatest intentions, why does raising children often seem so complicated and overpowering?  Why can’t life be like it is on TV where families resolve unbelievably intricate problems in only thirty minutes?  Why does it take us days to work out for apparently simple ones?

The answer, certainly, is that the characters on TV are puppets stage-managed by directors, writers, and actors, while we and our children are human beings—unique individuals who do not fit into predetermined molds.  All too often, we are not aware about effective parenting roles to children. We get embarrassed to talk about our problems with relatives or friends simply because we think we should be aware of what needs to do.  We are setting high goals for ourselves and then feeling insufficient when we don’t accomplish them.

We need to discontinue expecting flawlessness from ourselves as well as from our children.  A more sensible goal is to persistently raise our efficiency in resolving the family problems that inescapably take place.

To accomplish what are required parents must do the following crucial roles in dealing with their children accordingly:

      1.  Educator -- Assist your children to build up new skills, strategies as well as abilities for taking right actions, instead of concentrating on a specific achievement on a certain situation.

      2.  Direction -- Enhance your children's progress by using protective and helpful upbringing approaches.  Along the way provide close supervision and ways on taking care of themselves.

      3.  Adviser -- Give influence and guidance to strengthen significant values, beliefs while playing the role of a role model.  A great adviser practices effective parenting roles to children.

      4.  Opener -- Convey focus to your children about the goal or vision that awaits them.  This will go beyond the boundaries of their family and community.

      5.  Supporter -- Recognize, accept and encourage a trait or uniqueness that’s already in your children.  Help them totally develop these areas especially if they are not yet aware of their value.

Every child is a distinctively unique person, and each has his or her personal growing stages.  In every stage of growing up, the reliance and needs for parents do change also.  Keep in mind what is the child's manner and his age needs.  In time, you will provide them the most effective parenting roles they, too, can pass on to their future children!

As a parent, I understand how hard it is to train and discipline children because I can see it in my own son.   No matter what goes wrong in him, he doesn’t always run out of good excuses.  What he normally does is to put the blame on something or someone else for all faults.  Constantly, my son is on the go, so the only opportunity to discuss with him about issues is just before he sleeps at night.  However, our conversations have never turned out the way I’d wanted it.   He puts an end to our discussion upset and crying with me.  He yells because he believes I blame him for things he never did.  Can you please help me find ways to train and discipline my child.

Physical exhaustion does affect human awareness and, as a result, it affects communication.   After a long day of work and play, the not-so-hard problems may seem to be undefeatable.  When parents are tired and weary, beginning to train and discipline their children are hard.  Parents are inclined to be more emotional  rather than rational.   Here’s what you can do with your child's excuses:

      1.   Talk with each other when both of you have relaxed and rested.   Probably over a breakfast before he becomes occupied with the activities of the day.  You explain yourself as frequently engaging your son in serious talks when he is physically tired.  If you want to train and discipline your child that way it might be ineffective.  Most likely you as a parent can have the tears, pressures, and resentment avoided by delaying some important topics until next day.  A sound, good sleep at night goes a long way in getting rid of emotional disagreements and excuses.

      2.   You are right that your son should take the responsibilities for his own actions and behavior, it’s an effective approach to train and discipline children that way.  Your method of dealing with him helps find out his failure or success.   When your son is questioned in a way you seem to be accusing him, it is less likely that he will accept his faults and wrongdoings.  If a child fears unkind punishment or the anger of his parents, to offer excuses is the safest way to do.  Worse, when he has developed it as a habit (putting blame on someone or something else) he will start believing made-up stories in the long run.  As a loving parent begin to train and discipline your child while he is still young.

      3.   If you’ve recognized that your son is the one responsible for causing a problem, ask him about it in a non-penalizing, non-threatening manner.  Let him feel how much you want to help him understand his problems.  Parents don’t realize that to train and discipline children that way are so effective.   Sooner or later, this ability will be far more functional than his fabricated excuses.

As a parent, you can help your son feel he’s truly able to solve problems.  If you show love rather than reprimand, you are helping him overcome his excuses and develop a winning character.   And when he’s grown up, he could train and discipline his children the way you did to him.

Overweight Kids: Controlling Overeating to Avoid Being Obese

      Posted in Labels: , , ,

My son is an overweight kid, a problem I never expected to happen to him.  My other two children are just fine in their weight, and I can keep their favorite food around the house just for the two kids.  The trouble comes when my obese son sees the food he goes on overeating everything he can see around.  I feel totally disturbed and I really don’t know how to deal with it.
You did not point out visiting your regular doctor to realize if your son really should be classified as “obese.”  Because you have always feared having an overweight kid, you might be mistaking a case of being a little overweight with one of obesity.  In any case, this is not easy for you, and you wish you could do something about it.

Obesity or overweight is a severe difficulty for children and for those parents who care about them.  Large children quickly discover that adults normally are sorry for them but that peers exclude them.  Being obese can obstruct a child’s capability to join effectively in a lot of activities.  The most important question is that obesity is disadvantageous to the child’s health and personality.  Some factors can be considered to control overeating:

      1.   Ask your other children to purposely help you.  Tell them that you are going to buy only healthful food for snacks, and that you trust they will not complain but understand it’s really better for their bodies, too.  Prepare very good but low-calorie meals.

      2.   Avoid nagging or showing disgust toward your son.  Rather, let him know how much you care about him no matter what his weight is.

      3.   Try to find out a guide in his eating binges; they might happen, for instance, when he feels fed up or disappointed about his school experiences.

      4.   If you can get him occupied in an activity, the problem might resolve itself.  This action could be a pastime (making models, taking care of a pet, collecting stamps—it really doesn’t matter what, as long as it makes him interested) or a neighborhood work (car washing, cutting of grass, etc.).

             5.   And, most importantly, give an overweight kid the attention on matters not related to his predicament.

Being obese and indulging in overeating are within a person’s control.  It helps if you can apply these tips and find out how well they can work for your child!
