Tips to Effective and Successful Parenting: 4 Child-Raising Tips

Posted in Labels: , , , ,

Effective & successful parenting
Child-raising is undoubtedly the most difficult job and yet the most rewarding career. Effective and successful parenting is a career in which most parents are caught not prepared.

To improve and upgrade your parenting skills, here are 4 child-raising tips to help parents—and make your children enjoy as well:

1.   Develop the self-esteem of the child.

Your voice tone, gestures, body language, and facial expressions are imitated by your children.  More than this, the actions and words of parents influence the emerging character and self-esteem of the child.

Little praises however, will make them feel proud.  Allowing kids to do things for themselves makes them think they’re capable of pleasing their parents.  In contrast, belittling words or making comparison with other children will make kids feel inadequate. These won’t help a bit to your effective and successful parenting.

Pick your words properly and remain compassionate.  Let them understand that everybody makes a mistake and that you still care for them, despite the regular misbehavior.

2.   Catch them doing good.

Have you paused for a while and think how many negative reactions you have against your child? You may criticize them more often than giving compliments, and this is not effective. How would you feel if your boss will do the same to you, scolding you often and not appreciating your good deeds?

The most effective and successful parenting tip is catching them doing right things:  “That’s a great job! You cleaned your room without being asked.”  These words can do more motivation to the kids than repetitive reprimands.

Create a successful plan to look for things to appreciate your child’s actions daily.  Reward them generously—your hugs, love, and nice words can go far than anything else. Soon you will find your child showing the better behavior.

3.   Discipline and set limits consistently.

Effective and successful parenting includes discipline and setting limits.  The goal of it is to help the children choose the right and acceptable behavior and learn control over their impulses.  They will always test the limits you make, but those limitations are needed to understand responsibilities.

Setting up house rules help the kids know your expectations in developing self-discipline.  Here are some effective and successful rules: no television until assignment is finished, no beating, name-calling, or wounding teasing tolerated. This is the most common mistakes of parents: failure to execute consequences.  Children can’t be disciplined by talking about the rules and close your eyes for the implementation afterwards.

4.   Have time with them.

Family eating time today is difficult for both parents and children.  But probably, there is nothing kids would like more from parents than their precious time.  Wake up 30 minutes each morning for eating breakfast together.  Or leave the plates in the wash area and take a short walk after dinner.  Kids who receive no attention often misbehave because their action (though seems bad) will be noticed by a busy parent.

Lots of parents consider it effective and successful when they schedule activity time with the kids. Plan to have a special night every weekend.  Just stay together.  Allow your kids to make suggestions about the weekend activity.  Find other ways to reach for your kids—writing a special note in their lunch box, for example.

Do you feel guilty about your child-raising style? Don’t!! If you’re a parent and you have a job, spending quality time may be a problem with you.  However, it’s the little things you say or do that result to your effective and successful parenting.  Acts like making popcorn, window shopping, cleaning the house, or playing cards will create a bond in your relationship.

Try the above tips and you can make the most effective and successful parenting career in your family.

5 Tips to Effective Parenting Skills

    Posted in Labels: , , ,

You need effective parenting skills to cope with the daily stress your children give you.  Parenting is at all times challenging and has a series of tests.  However, being a parent requires no classes, academic degrees, or licenses.  Children do not arrive with a set of instructions or a manual.  Often parents have to learn as they go, receiving on-the-job training.  It is a difficult job to learn right, effective skills.  There’s no thorough experience to prepare them for all the problems they may have.

To some, there is a natural instinct that seems to come to a new parent, but this is rare.  There are always skills to learn that can help parents when challenges arise.  To be more responsible fathers and mothers, we’re giving you tips to effective parenting skills to handle your children well.

    Tip # 1
    Seek Good Advice

Definitely, all parents need effective skills in bringing up their children.  This career is one of the most frustrating yet rewarding jobs any person can achieve.  Most parents go to professional specialists seeking for effective guidance and skills in parenting.  What these experienced people speak of is based on principles on managing families.  Ask for the experts’ perspective who have mastery on raising kids.  Seek for both sensible examples and great advice that can assist you in acquiring effective skills.

    Tip # 2
    Use Your Authority

Studies show that kids brought up by loving and yet authoritative parents stand out academically.  Children consider many good things about themselves, build up better social skills, and are happier over those children whose parents are either very lenient or harsh.  Those who support their children but keep firm limits are using effective parenting skills.  From childhood through their adolescent years, children will defy your right in exercising your authority and your skills of effective parenting.  When it comes to a question like ‘Who is the boss?’ children will, if the parents won’t run with the ball.

    Tip # 3

Kids become better with understandable rules and consequences.  Using no structure, they become unhappy, selfish, self-absorbed—and they make everybody around them unhappy, too.  If you love your kids, you have to correct them effectively through your parenting skills.  If rules are broken, impose the consequences right away.  Note: if you are angry, wait until you have calmed down before you enforce the discipline.  Nevertheless, don’t delay it.  Avoid bargaining.

    Tip # 4
    Recognize Your Child’s Feelings

Children need and want the most important ones in their lives—their parents—to understand how they feel inside.  If parents consistently oppose their kids when expressing their emotions, they’re not practicing effective parenting skills.  Children become less expected to discuss matters with them.  They may even doubt their capabilities.  Normally, they will express their emotions and thoughts in intense way, defying your power.

    Tip # 5
    Educate by Examples

Actions teach and educate your skills for effective parenting.  Very often, words impart only information.  Mimicking their parents is one of the most influential ways children learn.  Try hard to be good models only, not expecting perfection.  Use your effective parenting skills in raising self-disciplined children.

Children learn best when they’re provided with consistent, firm, and clear rules.   Parenting becomes effective if we use unconditional love and acquired skills in disciplining children.  In fact, this approach produces well-adjusted parents and children.  Often, it generates a happy family living.

10 Positive Parenting Tips for Successful Family Living

    Posted in Labels: , , , ,

Unknown to most parents, an effective positive parenting is a skill that needs time to be developed.  It takes long patience and perseverance before you see huge results.  And along the process are practical tips to carry out the parenting job.

Find below what positive parenting tips are helpful in creating successful family living:

Tip #  1.   Raise the value of playing.  For a small kid, playing is a child’s beautiful world.  A play is critical in every aspect of his total development.  Unfortunately, this is what most parents neglect to do.  A play which is an effective form of positive parenting can prevent behavioral problems.  Play tips give a variety of opportunities to learn naturally.  This is so important in shaping a positive relationship between children and parents.  Oftentimes, it feels so good to act like a child again.  It makes children feel more enjoyable when joined with parents.

Tip # 2.   Create house rules and impose them.  No matter what the age of the child is, specific rules are important in effective positive parenting.  Build up some rules to follow with appropriate consequences if children failed to follow.  Make sure parents are the first ones to comply with it to encourage children to do the same.  House rules make your parenting roles much easier.

Tip # 3.   Pay attention to what your child is saying.  Effective positive parenting uses eye to eye contact and tender touch when dealing with children.  In contrast, using high-pitched voice and provoking words are the enemies of positive communication.  Your children, instead of listening to you, will get annoyed and will answer you back with unpleasant response.  Provide precise instructions, not too much talking that will irritate the child.  Don’t also undermine the value of non-verbal message.  Always hold the hands of your kid to comfort him.  A touch and loving embraces make a big difference.

Tip # 4.   Help improve their body and brain.  Healthy foods are the tips for strong resistance.  As parents, model the good positive habits of eating the right food. Prioritize a variety of nutritious foods to avoid being picky eaters or being sickly.  Positive parenting becomes effective if parents can eat happily with them.  Limit the number of hours watching TV or playing electronic games.  Raise your children’s spirits by doing lots of physical activities: exercise, playing, or helping in household chores.  Always give positive support to their efforts, whether or not they excel in school. Give them many opportunities to explore, try and learn new things.

Tip # 5.   Answer them when they ask you questions.  Make it a habit to always ask questions.  When they’ve grown up, it will be easier for them to communicate with you.  Be positive and show honesty and sincerity when answering them, even the most sensitive matters.  Give the precise “word” and don’t lie.  Children get satisfied with a little knowledge that comes from effective positive parenting.  There’s no need to expand your answer.  Being truthful generates mutual trust as well as respect for parents and others.

Tip # 6.   Watch how your child grows and accept his uniqueness.  The true experts in positive parenting are the parents; they know better their child’s distinctiveness more than anyone else.  Whether it’s intellectual, physical, or in behavioral pattern, parents are the most knowledgeable.  Keep in mind to happily accept your child's uniqueness no matter what he or she is. This is the feature of effective positive parenting: Don’t criticize their individuality.  Be supportive enough in enhancing their talents and interests.  Give ample time to connect with them every day.  And never ever compare them with other kids.  It brings no positive results but only destroys their self-worth and develops low self-esteem.

Tip # 7.   Have a happy, regular family togetherness.  To feel that every member belongs to each other, a family should be involved in common activities.  These tips include meal time together, helping one another doing tasks, or simply playing.  Have time together to talk about problems, needs, or achievements to promote a positive and strong relationship.    An effective time to positive parenting is togetherness.

Tip # 8.   Help your child distinguish right from wrong.  It is a gradual, progressive process to develop good character in your child.  Show in actions the right behavior they should mimic, and not just instructing them. Children learn better when their parents are their role models in real actions, not in words.

Tip # 9.   Don’t forget yourself. A lot of parents just focus all their time to the needs of their children.  Sad to say, they neglect their health, forget to eat, and don’t take care of their appearance anymore.  If you’re doing an effective positive parenting, don't forget yourself.  Consider the tips of taking rest, food, sleep and some sorts of fun and recreation.  Parents need to recharge their strength every day.  Being tired and feeling weak make you ineffective.  Be nice to yourself, give it good treatment and you’ll be more capable to complete your job.

Tip # 10.   Above everything else, let them feel your love.  Loving is the most effective positive parenting skill. Without it, all your efforts turn to nothing.  Whether it’s disciplining or teaching, love must be the motivating factor of parents.  Your unconditional love for them will conquer even the most insurmountable condition. Give love first and your goal of effective positive parenting will follow!

Raising a child is a difficult career to do, but not to parents who know the secrets of effective positive parenting. Being responsible for another child’s life is overwhelming but rewarding.  The least thing you do or do not do can have long-life consequences.  If you want to be great parents your child will be proud of, taking the above positive parenting tips could help.  Ignore these tips or you regret later!!

Successful Parenting Tips in Shaping a Child’s Behavior

    Posted in Labels: , , ,

Being a parent requires no classes, academic degrees, or licenses.  Children do not arrive with a set of instructions or a manual.  Often, parents have to learn as they go, receiving on-the-job training.  It is a difficult job, and no quantity or understanding can totally prepare them for all the circumstances that they may come across.

To some, there is a natural instinct that seems to come to a new parent, but there are bits of advice that can help when you face challenges in the growing years of your kids.  Because most parents are concerned in becoming more effective, here are some guidelines to help you face and handle your children’s daily activities.

Here are some tips for successful parenting

    Tip # 1

    Use your authority

Studies show that kids brought up by loving and yet authoritative parents—those who support their children but keep firm limits—stand out academically,  consider many good things about themselves, and build up better social skills.  They are happier than children whose parents are either excessively lenient or harsh.  All the way from childhood through their adolescent years, your kids will defy your right in exercising authority over them.  When it comes to a question like “Who is the boss?” children will be boss if parents won’t run with the ball.

    Tip # 2

    Identify family issues

Kids become better with understandable rules and consequences.  Using no structure, they become unhappy, selfish, self-absorbed—and they make everybody around them unhappy, too.  If you do love your kids, you have to correct them.  If rules are broken, impose the consequences right away.  Note: if you are angry, wait until you have calmed down before you enforce the discipline.  Nevertheless, don’t delay it.  Avoid bargaining.

    Tip # 3

    Recognize your child’s feelings

Children need and want the most important ones in their lives—their parents—to understand how they feel inside.  If parents consistently oppose their kids when expressing their emotions, children will be less expected to discuss matters with them and may even doubt their capabilities on how to think and feel good about themselves.  Children naturally express their emotions and thoughts in intense ways.

    Tip # 4

    Educate by example

Actions teach and educate.  Very often, words impact only information.  Mimicking their parents is one of the most influential ways children learn.  Try hard to be good models but not perfect.  Keep bringing them up in well-disciplined and mental-guiding ways.

    Tip # 5

    Seek good advice

Definitely, bringing up a child is one of the most frustrating yet rewarding and fulfilling tasks any person can achieve.  Most parents go to professional parenting specialists for advice and guidance.  Some of what these skilled people speak of is based on principles.  Ask for the expert’s perspective and mastery on how to raise kids.  Seek for both sensible examples and direct advice that can assist you in becoming better parents.

Successful parenting has never been much needed in one family than these days.  Right parenting helps in shaping the next generations teaching how they will behave and live on.  Understanding the healthy techniques and applying them diligently is tiring and a difficult process, but the reward is long-lasting and fulfilling.  Congratulations to all parents out there who have done their most important roles in raising their kids!!

Parenting Tips: Giving Your Children Quantity of Time

    Posted in Labels: , , ,

The quantity of time you give to your children is equally important with the quality of time.  The point here is that quantity of time matters just as much as quality time.  True, you can take your children to Disneyland, but this is not good enough to replace good parenting.

Parents’ presence is much needed.  They need to witness their children grow up.  This means spending good times with them.  But most importantly, it means being there when things get hard and tough. It means parents should be active participants in their child’s daily struggles.

This, of course, requires time, patience and willingness to participate in a long-term process. This is real quantity of time we’re talking about.  Quantity of time requires that we be there always for our children.

There are things you can do together with your kids.  Here are a few examples:

    1.      working with a troubled child to help him sort out his letters
    2.      assisting a child who gives up easily to learn and to try again
    3.      teaching a child who is quick to anger and how to divert his irritation into something positive
    4.      helping a troubled kid learn how to correct an unacceptable behavior

What I want to point out here is spending quality time because we are in a generation where money and materials have ruled our lives. The answer to this is simple: create a decision that involves quantity family activities.

The moment you prioritize your family, it’s fairly easy to get rid of activities that take up too much of your time.  You can start creating parenting plans to serve your family’s welfare.

It is part of parenting to create tight decisions and hard choices occasionally.  It may mean saying "no" to the people and activities that have become the core of our lives.  What we need is balancing things in life.  And the more we choose our children over other things, the higher they become our priorities.

In this fast-paced time, parents often neglect the importance of family relationship.  Spending time with children should not be considered an overwhelming job.  It is not a prison cell as many think of it.

Playing with your kids is the utmost happiness every parent can ever experience.  It can relax your tired nerves and cells.  No matter what other people believe, children are gifts from God where parents can draw their strength from. This is true if your priority is your family and children.

Parenting tips for spending longer time with your kids:
    • Parenting Tips # 1 -- Squeeze your schedule for your family.  Get activities you can work on together as a family. Provide each kid individualized thoughtfulness.  Start speaking with your child; find out his activities.  Be the one responsible for having a heart in his bosom. Be readily accessible, even during your busiest hours.
    • Parenting Tips # 2 -- Spending time won’t mean doing special activities.  It means providing your interests and kindness. If you’re loaded with more chores, ask your kids to help—they are more than willing to help than you think.  Also, these are opportunities to start a conversation, bonding and connection with them.
    • Parenting Tips # 3 --Free time—quantity of time spent naturally— heals a struggling relationship.  Learn to take time with your children. Don’t worry about folding the laundry or about the many stuffs you have to do.  You can put them aside and give first your time to your kids.  You will wonder how your children receive happily the most valuable thing you own.
Remember, nothing can take place the genuine time, love, and care parents can give their kids.  Most parents believe that an hour spent with the kids is just enough, but this is a big mistake.  Kids who can play longer hours with their parents will create deeper relationship.  The value they can get is more than just watching TV, watching movies, or listening to music.  Make a big difference in the life of your children by spending more quality and quantity of time together!
